Glory Utility was founded in 2003 to bring high quality American made products to or retail store. When we decided that we wanted to start selling clothing in Glory, we went out searching for the world’s best Vintage Motorcycle inspired clothing. Our search was quick and disappointing. What we found, was over designed foreign made crap.
Now, we didn’t know how to make clothes, but we figured it couldn’t be that hard.(that’s a very long and expensive story on it’s own) Our idea was to take the best of the vintage MC clothes and gear from the 40’s,50’s and 60’s, update the styles, and make them to the high standards that seem to have disappeared from today’s apparel industry. From North Carolina we used Cone Mills Red Selvedge denim made on the same wooden looms that created the denim for Levi’s in the 1800’s! We went to the Deep South to knit our t-shirts (remember, that’s where they grow cotton). The rest is done here in LA under the watchful eye of our main QC officer El Slappy.
It’s been a strange and expensive road. We learned the art of making denim as we went along and have never sacrificed quality in the name of fashion. We hate fashion. Our denims are cut to be worn and worked in. The original 1955’s were patterned on two different bikes to ensure comfort for riding. We make our racing sweaters with the same patterns from the 1930’s that were used by both Indian and Harley Davidson. Our t-shirts are simple and classic. ID magazine from England summed us up best when the said “… Glory isn’t a fashion company pretending to be bikers; it’s more like the other way around…”
Glory Utility is a passion. We design manufacture and distribute our good with our own hands. We our a small company that is dedicated to building quality goods and selling them at fair prices. We may not be hip , but we are certainly authentic…..
